This past Friday November 8th, the central Philippines was hit by the monstrous Typhoon Haiyan. CNN.com reports that Typhoon Haiyan touched land with wind gusts of 195 mph, destroying everything in its path with storm surges and enormous waves.
The stories of death, devastation and need continue to multiply. Nydailynews.com reports that an estimated 2,000 to 2,500 lives have been lost and 660,000 are presently homeless. According to nbcnews.com America began sending relief efforts as early as Sunday. Other American armed forces assistance have been dispatched by air and sea and have arrived or are due to arrive in 2-3 days.
